In our next endeavour, flowers again by popular request, and “not The Scream again!” said Alethea. “I didn’t like that one”. Note neither Caleb nor Alethea painted the screamer in their paintings. Too scary. They laughed at the parodies though, containing a wolf/dog, a pig, Homer Simpson or C3PO being chased by Stormtroopers.
This time we really focused on painting the background first. Then we set them aside to let them dry and painted other frolicsome art, ate supper and folded laundry. Then when the backgrounds were dry, we came back and painted our vases and flowers. Notice the improvements! Lots more paint colour mixing this time too, with pinks, yellow-greens and greys.

Purple Flowers. Rhys Fleming (4) (who had a really tough time naming this one. She wanted “Day, day, night, and then it’s day.”)
This is the art and forgery page of the Fleming kids, Caleb, Alethea and Rhys. Their mission, to do the best imitations that they could of other artists’ work. What did they learn along the way? To take their shirts off before painting, to mix their colours, to fill a page (…Rhys…), and backgrounds and foregrounds. You will see here, that I have posted first the original painting, and then the forgeries. See if YOU can tell the difference!
